96-year-old woman killed in fire incident in Githioro, Nakuru County


A 96-year-old was killed in a fire incident in Githioro, Nakuru County.

The woman identified as Ngendo Mwangi was alone when the fire broke out on Tuesday dawn. The cause of the fire was not immediately established, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.

In Luanda, Vihiga County, a 39-year-old man was electrocuted in an incident.

Police said Jason Atoo was electrocuted in his house and his body had burns in the mouth, hands, legs, chest and back.

A naked black cable was found a meter away from the place where the body lay. Witnesses said the deceased was connecting wifi in their house when the incident happened.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Such incidents have been on the rise amid blame game. Officials blame illegal power connections and use of quacks in wiring for the trend.

In Mariashoni, Nakuru County, a 76-year-old man was found dead with his body partially submerged in water.

Police said the body of Kipkosgei Sumuni had injuries in the right hand and head when it was discovered on the roadside after his murder and later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established. Police said they were pursuing the leads into the murder.

Meanwhile, police in Mukuyuni, Makueni County are investigating an incident where a 69-year-old woman was found dead in her house.

The police identified her as Agnes Makau. Her body was found lying in a pool of blood in her house with deep cuts in the head and jaw.

The motive of the murder and assailants were not known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

In Kianjokoma, Embu County, a woman was found dead in her house. She was identified as Agnes Gichugu, 34, police said.
