Ruto witnesses signing of deal for Nairobi indoor arena under Railway city project

President William Ruto has witnessed the signing of a lease agreement between Zaria Group and the Kenya Railways Corporation for the construction of a modern indoor arena in Nairobi.

The agreement, signed at State House, Nairobi, marks a major step in the implementation of the Nairobi Railway City Project, a flagship urban renewal initiative aimed at transforming the capital’s Central Business District into a global hub for business, culture, and entertainment.

“The construction of a modern arena and entertainment district in central Nairobi marks a significant milestone toward the realisation of the Nairobi Railway City Project,” President Ruto said.

The Head of State noted that the project is expected to elevate Nairobi’s status as a regional destination for sports, entertainment, and commerce.

“This development will position Nairobi’s CBD as a premier hub for sports, entertainment, culture, and commerce across East Africa and the world,” he added.

“This partnership aligns with our national infrastructure priorities and completes the ecosystem we are building around key facilities such as Talanta Stadium and Bomas,” Ruto said.

According to the agreement, the project will be delivered within 12 months and is expected to generate up to 25,000 jobs annually, providing a major boost to employment and economic activity.

“The signing of this lease formalises our commitment to delivering transformative infrastructure that creates jobs and drives growth,” the President stated.

The Nairobi Railway City Project is one of the government’s flagship plans to modernise urban transport and commercial infrastructure, positioning the capital as a leading investment destination in the region.
