Abdi Ahmed Mohamud has officially taken office as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
During the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Mohamud committed to leading with integrity and ensuring that his mandate is carried out effectively and with due diligence.
“I fully recognize the great responsibility and trust placed in me by the people of Kenya.
I vow to adhere to the oath I have taken, dedicated to fighting corruption, economic crimes, and promoting ethical standards across the nation,” Mohamud stated after taking the oath of office.

The ceremony, presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome, was an important moment for both Mohamud and the nation.
The Chief Justice praised Mohamud for his appointment, highlighting the critical role he will play in ensuring justice and supporting the judiciary in its work.
“You now carry the trust and expectations of the Kenyan people who look to you for leadership in combating corruption,” Koome remarked.

Mohamud’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process in which over 172 candidates vied for the role.
He succeeds Twalib Mbarak, whose six-year tenure ended on January 10.
Prior to his elevation to the CEO position, Mohamud had served as the Deputy CEO of the EACC and held the role of Director in charge of investigations for more than a decade.

His extensive experience within the commission, including his earlier position as Director of Investigations, positions him well to lead the agency in its ongoing efforts to tackle corruption.
With the appointment of Mohamud, the EACC aims to strengthen its commitment to upholding ethical conduct and addressing corruption and economic crimes within Kenya’s public and private sectors.
