As concerns over digital wellbeing, screen time, and online safety grow, many parents and users are looking for ways to limit or completely block access to certain apps like TikTok. Whether you’re a parent monitoring a child’s phone or an individual looking to cut distractions, blocking TikTok on an iPhone can be done using built-in iOS features. Here’s a detailed guide on How To Block TikTok on iPhone.
Use Screen Time to Block TikTok
Apple’s Screen Time feature provides a powerful way to manage app usage and even block certain apps completely. To begin, make sure Screen Time is enabled on the device.
Go to Settings > Screen Time, and tap Turn On Screen Time if it’s not already activated. Choose whether the iPhone is yours or your child’s. If it’s your child’s, you’ll be able to set up parental controls with a passcode that prevents changes without your consent.
Once Screen Time is enabled, tap App Limits and select Add Limit. From here, you’ll see categories such as Social Networking, Games, and Entertainment. Tap the arrow next to Social Networking, and select TikTok from the list. If TikTok is not listed directly, it may fall under the Social Networking group. After selecting it, set the time limit to 1 minute, then toggle Block at End of Limit. This ensures TikTok becomes inaccessible once the limit is reached.
Block TikTok Using Content & Privacy Restrictions
Another method involves completely blocking access to TikTok using content restrictions.
In the Screen Time settings, tap Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn on the feature at the top. Scroll down to Allowed Apps, and make sure TikTok is disabled. If TikTok doesn’t appear in this section, go back and select Content Restrictions > Apps, then set the age limit to 12+ or lower. TikTok is rated 13+, so setting the age to 12+ will make the app disappear from the iPhone and prevent it from being downloaded again.

To strengthen this restriction, you can go to iTunes & App Store Purchases, then restrict the ability to install or delete apps and require a password for any downloads. This stops the user from reinstalling TikTok without your knowledge.
Block TikTok Using Downtime
Screen Time also allows you to schedule Downtime, during which only approved apps can be used.
Under Screen Time, tap Downtime, enable it, and schedule hours when you want TikTok and other distracting apps to be inaccessible. Then, go to Always Allowed and ensure TikTok is not in the list of apps that are accessible during downtime. This approach is especially helpful for restricting TikTok use during homework time or bedtime.
Use a Third-Party Parental Control App
If the iPhone is used by a child and more robust controls are needed, consider installing a third-party parental control app such as Qustodio, Net Nanny, or Bark. These apps offer more detailed monitoring and blocking tools, including web filtering, activity tracking, and app-specific controls. Once set up, they can provide real-time alerts and allow you to remotely block TikTok on your child’s device.
