Orange Democratic Movement’s Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna is far from getting himself out of trouble with fellow ODM party’s members, Nairobi News has learnt.
This is after he was badly and publicly exposed by Homabay Town MP Peter Kaluma of grievous misconduct.
It should be noted that Sifuna has been dealing with serious criticism from fellow ODM members because of his bold stance against his party leader Raila Odinga and William Ruto’s partnership that birthed the broad-based government.
While throwing cold salvos at Sifuna, MP Peter Kaluma penned a long open letter dedicated to Raila Odinga through which he exposed the formers misgivings.

According to Kaluma’s post, Sifuna went behind Raila and ODM’s backs and requested the Kenya Kwanza government to appoint him as a Cabinet Secretary.
However, Sifuna’s demand was turned down because the Western region had already been given several Cabinet Secretary posts.
“Baba: Your beloved son long left you for the enemy and now smells like Gachagua! Did you know he asked to be appointed Cabinet Secretary behind your back while you were away in Dubai? Yes, he did! And when he was told this could not happen because Western Kenya already had a Prime Minister, Minister in Charge of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Minister for Health and Minister for Cooperatives & SMEs, he demanded to be paid KSh 300 million to let go and threatened hell if this didn’t happen,” Kaluma wrote on X.
Kaluma went further to claim Sifuna played a major role in former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment.
He insisted that the ODM Secretary General has lost his loyalty to the party and is only politicking for personal gain.
“Baba, ODM’s strength has always sprung from its ‘institutional’ approach to issues. It diminishes the stature and standing of the Party when a member is seen to undermine its considered and resolved decisions without due sanction. We all know how much you love him. You brought him to Nairobi from Kanduyi, where he was rejected in his bid to be MP in 2013. In 2017, he didn’t make it despite your best effort. You again supported him, and he finally made it in 2022 and causing him to be appointed a leader in the House with enviable facilities, including a government vehicle as a first-term MP against several more senior members,” Kaluma added.
The MP wrapped up his open letter to Raila by requesting him to allow ODM officials to remove Sifuna from the party, holding that he is causing division.

“He has become a traitor, eating with the enemies at night and shouting ‘ODM’ at day! He currently brings nothing to the party except division, confusion and disharmony. Please allow the Party to rid itself of your beloved son,” Kaluma asserted.
