Police in Buruburu, Nairobi, are investigating the killing of a 41-year-old man who died following a stabbing incident on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as Collins Onyango, was reportedly at his nephew’s residence when an argument broke out between him and a 17-year-old girl.
According to police reports, the confrontation escalated, during which the teenager allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Onyango in the neck.
A neighbor who witnessed the incident alerted authorities, and Onyango was rushed to Edel Vale Trust Jamaa Mission Hospital in Buruburu for treatment.
He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers from the National Police Service visited the scene and recovered the suspected murder weapon.
Detectives processed both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of ongoing investigations.
Onyango’s body was later transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police said the suspect sustained minor injuries after members of the public attempted to lynch her following the incident.
She was rescued by officers, treated at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, and subsequently taken into custody.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Buruburu have taken over the case as investigations continue.
