Presenter Kai calls out media boss who took his father’s roosters as bribe but denied him job

Sensational content creator Presenter Kai has taken to social media to share a heartfelt story about his father’s unwavering support in his early career struggles, while also exposing a disappointing experience with a media certain house in Mombasa.

In a candid post on Tuesday, December 16, Kai recounted how, after graduating from university, he faced the daunting challenge of finding his first job, a struggle familiar to many Kenyan youths.

While Kai’s father did everything possible to help him secure employment, one particular incident left both father and son frustrated and disillusioned.

According to Kai, a media house in Mombasa asked for a bribe to guarantee him a position.

Since his father was not financially well-off at the time, he offered two cockerels instead of cash.

The media boss accepted the roosters and promised that Kai would start the following week.

However, the job offer never came through.

Sharing a photo of himself with his father in a car, Kai wrote:

“After college, my dad fought hard to get me a job, but it didn’t work out. I remember one day he was asked for ‘chai’ to secure me a position at a certain media house in Mombasa. He didn’t have money but offered two roosters instead. We traveled all the way to Mombasa, and the media boss took the roosters, promising my dad I would start the following week. I’m still waiting to be called for that job 😂. May God bless my father for his efforts and sacrifices ❤️.”

Kai’s post has sparked a wave of reactions online.

Many Kenyans condemned the media boss for exploiting a struggling family, describing the act as unethical and unfair.

Others, however, criticised Kai and his father for participating in what they considered an act of corruption, highlighting the ethical dilemmas that often surround employment in some sectors.

This story also sheds light on the challenges young Kenyans face when entering the job market, particularly in competitive industries like media.

With limited opportunities and rampant nepotism or bribery in certain circles, the journey to secure a first job can be both stressful and disheartening.
