President William Ruto assured Kenyans that the country is on the path to stabilization despite challenges, emphasizing that there are some individuals within the nation wishing for its downfall.
However, he expressed confidence that nothing would derail the country’s progress.
“The country will stand still and make more development as God wills,” President Ruto said, offering reassurance to citizens.
He highlighted that the Kenyan economy is showing signs of recovery, noting significant improvements in key economic indicators.
The president mentioned that inflation, the value of the dollar, and interest rates have all decreased, signaling the country’s economic healing.
He emphasized that these positive changes are part of a broader trend of economic revitalization.
President Ruto also acknowledged the skepticism many had about the country’s ability to reduce food costs and implement affordable housing projects.
He noted that despite initial doubts, the government has made tangible progress in achieving these goals, with affordable housing projects underway and food prices starting to stabilize.
“People didn’t think we could reduce food costs or implement universal coverage, but now we are seeing results.
The country is making steady steps in its transformation,” he said.
Looking back over his two years in office, President Ruto reflected on the significant strides Kenya has made in its economic recovery.
He promised the people of Nairobi that he is committed to transforming the city, making it a model of development for the entire country.
“I will transform Nairobi into a better city, the capital of Kenya,” he added.
The president also addressed the education sector, particularly the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), stating that the government has implemented several strategies to enhance the system.
He revealed that 76,000 teachers have been employed, around 20,000 new classrooms have been built, and there has been a major overhaul of the funding model for TVET institutions and universities.
These steps, he said, are already showing positive results, with improvements in the education sector this year compared to the previous year.
In conclusion, President Ruto expressed his optimism for the country’s future, citing the ongoing economic recovery and educational reforms as key areas of focus.
He urged Kenyans to remain hopeful and continue working together for the progress and stability of the nation.
