An important milestone in the infrastructure development of the region was reached when President William Ruto officially inspected the continuing construction at Garissa Airstrip.
In order to increase trade and unleash the region’s enormous economic potential, the President underlined during the visit the ongoing work to transform Garissa Airstrip into an international airport.

As part of the change, the President also started the process of building a new runway and renovating the current one.
He also evaluated the status of the new terminal building, which, when finished, should greatly increase the airstrip’s capacity and services.

This significant infrastructure project has the potential to improve accessibility to Garissa and the greater northeastern region of Kenya, boost economic growth, and improve connectivity.
