President William Ruto emphasized the importance of collective action to support the youth as they face challenging times.
Speaking at AIC Koiwa Town in Konoin, Bomet County, the President called on parents, religious leaders, and politicians to work together to secure a brighter future for the younger generation.
“We cannot afford to engage in blame games. It is our collective responsibility to ensure the future of our children,” he stated firmly.
Ruto underscored the need for mentorship and guidance to help young people avoid destructive paths such as substance abuse and gender-based violence.
“We must focus on the next generation educating them, providing mentorship, and ensuring they do not fall into harmful traps,” he added.
The event, which also saw the presence of governors Hillary Barchok (Bomet) and Erick Mutai (Kericho), along with several lawmakers, including Mathias Robi (Kuria West) and Linet Chepkorir (Bomet Woman Rep), was a call for leaders at all levels to prioritize the well-being of the youth.
Ruto reiterated that the government is committed to doing its part, but stressed that parents and religious leaders also play a pivotal role in guiding the younger generation toward a positive future.
“We are all in this together, and we must work hand-in-hand to ensure our youth have the guidance and support they need,” he said.
The President’s remarks come shortly after his vow to address the ongoing issue of abductions in the country.
In Homa Bay on Friday, Ruto urged the youth to avoid irresponsible behavior and called on parents to take a more active role in shaping their children’s futures.
“Our children are blessings from God, and it is the duty of every parent to protect them.
As a government, we will work to end abductions and ensure peace for the youth, but they must also be disciplined and responsible to contribute to building a better nation,” he concluded.
