President William Ruto has issued a firm warning against the spread of rumors an
d misinformation about government programs, stressing that the government will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its efforts.
Speaking during a public address on Thursday, January 9, the president assured Kenyans that his administration is focused on moving the country forward, highlighting the tangible progress made in stabilizing the economy.
“We are marching forward as a nation. We have done our part in ensuring we stabilize the economy,” President Ruto said, reflecting on the significant strides made since his government assumed office.
The president pointed to the reduction in the value of the dollar, which had skyrocketed to Sh 160 during the country’s economic challenges.
However, Ruto noted, the current exchange rate has now been reduced to Sh 120, marking a significant improvement.
“Inflation stood at 9.6% when we took office, but we have successfully reduced it to 2.7%.
This is the lowest inflation rate Kenya has seen in the past 20 years,” he continued, adding that these achievements are a testament to the hard work of his administration in managing the economy.
The president also criticized individuals who have been quick to blame his government for not living up to its promises.
“Some people have been spreading false information about my administration, accusing us of not being compatible with our promises,” Ruto remarked.
“I will be watching them closely because they are undermining the hard work being done by my government.”
In his speech, Ruto also took a swipe at political opponents who have begun early electioneering, urging them to lower their political campaigns.
“It’s still early for that,” he said. “I will not allow anyone to destroy the country or derail the progress we are making.
I am focused on my agenda, and I will stand firm and continue to prioritize the well-being of all Kenyans.”
The president’s remarks underscore his commitment to ensuring stability and economic growth while rejecting distractions from political opponents.
He emphasized that his administration will remain focused on the long-term goals and progress for the nation, despite the challenges and political noise around them.
