Kenyan police have once again demonstrated their vigilance in combating crime, particularly among young people, with the latest incident involving a teenager arrested after flaunting what appeared to be a pistol on social media.
Nairobi News has established that officers apprehended a young man identified as Jefferson Ian Wekesa Muthee, who was filmed alongside a friend displaying a black pistol.
The video, which quickly went viral, sparked concern among netizens who warned the duo against such reckless behaviour.

The clip soon caught the attention of security personnel, prompting a sting operation that led to Jefferson’s arrest at his residence at Njiru Diamond Court.
Further investigations revealed that the weapon in question was actually a toy pistol.
During interrogation, Jefferson reportedly told officers that he purchased the fake firearm at Greenspan Mall for fun during a video shoot, unaware that the act could raise alarm or attract legal consequences.

For security reasons, the toy pistol has since been surrendered to Muungano Police Station, where Jefferson is currently being held.
Police have urged anyone with pending issues related to the teen to report to the station.
