A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she ingested a poison in a suicide mission in Mitaboni, Kathiani, Machakos County.
This was after she had fed the same poison to her three-year-old daughter who died.
The two were on Sunday rushed to a chemist in the area where the girl died while being attended to.
The mother, a 31-year-old woman was found wreathing in pain and wanted assistance in Ngelani village.
She told her relatives they had consumed a poisonous chemical prompting them to rush both of them to the chemist where the minor died.
Witnesses said they were both vomiting black substance as they were being rushed to the chemist cum hospital.
The motive of the incident is yet to be established, police said as they moved the body of the girl to the mortuary. The woman was admitted at the hospital pending further investigations.
Police said she is likely to face murder charges after she recovers from the poisoning.
Meanwhile, in Soweto, Kayole in Nairobi, a man died after he was pushed against a metal grill by a mob in a confrontation.
The victim hit the entrance grill at the scene and sustained fatal injuries in the head. He died on the spot, police said.
Two suspects were later arrested over the incident, police said.
One of the suspects had earlier been seen arguing with the deceased and demanding what witnesses said was her money. It was then a group joined and pushed the victim against the metal grill which occasioned the fatal injuries.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
And a man was lynched on claims of being a thief in Tena area, Buruburu, Nairobi.
The man was stoned and killed by a mob on Sunday morning following the claims, police said.
