UDA Treasurer Fires Back At Senator Gloria Orwoba After Protest Over Party SummonA

The political feud within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has deepened after nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba publicly protested a summons issued to her by the party.

In response, UDA Treasurer and Kitutu Chache North MP Japheth Nyakundi issued a firm statement on Saturday, accusing Orwoba of disloyalty and declaring that she is no longer part of the ruling party.

“The only price you pay in politics is loyalty to the party and the party leader,” Nyakundi said, emphasizing that Orwoba had gone against the party’s political direction.

He further stated that UDA had cut ties with the Senator, wishing her well in what he described as her “new party and new party leader.”

“You have disregarded all that. We wish you all the best with your new party leader. As for UDA, we are done with you you are no longer a party member. You can’t bite the hands that feed you. Mengine yatafuata,” Nyakundi added.

His remarks were a direct reaction to a subtle warning posted online by Senator Orwoba, where she addressed Nyakundi and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro:

“Good morning, Sylvanus Osoro and Japheth Nyakundi, the Gusii Community is watching you. Happy Sabbath,” Orwoba wrote.

The post sparked mixed reactions from the public. Some rallied behind the senator, praising her courage, while others defended the party and accused her of defiance.

“Gloria don’t mind, you can’t kneel to either Nyakundi or Ruto to survive or feed. Keep your head high and forward. UDA is just a matter of time,” commented one supporter, Cyrus Makori.

Risper Kemunto, a Member of the Kisii County Assembly, weighed in with a legal perspective, warning that Nyakundi’s post could be used against the party in court.

“She will argue that you, being a party official, have already predetermined the outcome — denying her a fair hearing,” Kemunto noted.

Another user, Samuel Nyakundi, labeled the remarks as threatening and advised that they be disregarded, referencing Okenyuri as an example of political restraint.

The tension follows Orwoba’s recent appearance alongside former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at events in Kisii and Nyamira a move that appears to have triggered the summons from UDA, citing party indiscipline.

The party has yet to formally announce any disciplinary measures, but Nyakundi’s comments suggest that internal decisions may already be in motion.
