The late Wells Fargo Human Resource manager, Willia Ayieko, is scheduled to be interred on Saturday, November 9.
His final resting place will be at his home in Ong’iende village (Bob’s ranch), located in the Central Alego area of Siaya County.
According to family members, a funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 7, at All Saints’ Cathedral in Nairobi, prior to the transportation of his remains to his residence.
Ayieko’s body was discovered on October 23 at 2 PM in the Mungowere stream, situated on the border between Siaya and Kakamega Counties.
This discovery followed a period of his disappearance after he had attended a funeral in Gem.
His vehicle was located abandoned at a petrol station in Sabatia, Kakamega County.
An autopsy performed on his remains indicated that he succumbed to head injuries, as stated by Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, who noted that these injuries resulted in bleeding in the brain.
“There was bleeding to the brain. Other than that there were bruises on the wrists caused by some cuffs found on him. There were also missing tissues on the mouth, ear and cheek,” he said.
He clarified that the absence of tissues was due to animal predation at the location where the body was discovered.
“They were caused by water animals like fish and crabs. We found a dead crab on the clothes. We think they were targeting the soft parts of the body,” he said.
On Monday, detectives involved in the case apprehended another suspect named Otieno Omondi in Kisumu.
Authorities believe he played a crucial role in the events leading up to the tragic incident.
Omondi, who works as a bodaboda rider, is accused of providing transportation for Ouma, also referred to as Sisco, to the site where Ayieko was abducted, according to police investigations.
He reported to the police that he transported Ouma to the murder scene and received Sh9,000 for his services.
Ouma is currently in police custody and has been connected to the crime, along with his deceased brother, Robert Wakolo Okoth, and other unidentified individuals.
The rider stated that he picked up Ouma from Kisumu and drove him to the Gem area, where Ayieko was allegedly held by his brother, the late Wakolo, and other suspects.
Ouma subsequently exited the room with a Samsung mobile phone believed to belong to Ayieko.
They reportedly made several trips to various Mpesa agents and banks for withdrawals.
Omondi informed the police that Ouma was wearing a blue jacket during the incident, which was captured on multiple CCTV recordings at the withdrawal locations.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations actively following several leads to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the murder.
Authorities have indicated that the late Wakolo was involved in numerous violent robberies, including the fatal shooting of a female Mpesa agent in Kisumu on January 27, 2024.
