A 15-year-old boy died after being trapped by a heap of sand he and others were harvesting in a village in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County.
The body was a student at Kamser Junior Secondary School.
He was in the company of a group and were busy excavating sand at the scene when it caved in trapping him fatally.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the Saturday incident.
And in Homa Bay Town, a woman aged 28 was fatally stabbed in a suspected love triangle saga.
She was identified as Mevis Anyango Ondijo. Police said her boyfriend found her in a house belonging to her tenant in Shauri Yako. The boyfriend pursued her there after learning she was in the house with a tenant and stabbed her in the chest and stomach.
He escaped the scene as the woman was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.
Police said they recovered a blood-stained knife from the scene with clothes, bedsheets and a mosquito net.
