A lecturer from Bomet University has been detained at the Bomet Central Police Station following allegations that he held a 17-year-old girl captive for three days and sexually assaulted her.
Authorities reported that the accused lured the girl to his residence in Bomet town, where the alleged assault occurred.
Neighbors raised the alarm after discovering the situation and subsequently informed the landlord.
Musa Omar, the police chief for the Bomet Central sub-county, noted that the suspect initially fled but was later located and apprehended by detectives.
“We believe there is sufficient evidence to bring him to court,” Omar stated.
“We are confident that he will face justice, and someone in his position should serve as a positive role model for the youth.”
Sources indicate that the victim was staying with a relative in one of the local apartment complexes.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout Bomet University, sparking concern among female staff members who are advocating for justice on behalf of the victim, condemning the lecturer’s alleged actions as heinous.
Police are finalizing their investigation and preparing to present the case in court in Bomet.
