Bahati claps back after fans reject his apology: “Mungu sio nyanya ya mtu”

Kenyan musician Bahati has hit back at critics just hours after issuing a public apology over a string of controversial publicity stunts that left many of his fans disgusted.

In a fiery video shared on his social media pages on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the Mama hitmaker appeared visibly emotional as he addressed his followers, declaring that he is not perfect, and never intends to be.

“Guys, I am not perfect. I will always do my best. I am not planning to be perfect, but as a human being, there are things beyond your control. I have tried to think about life, and sometimes it’s just too hard to comprehend. Ile hate nimekuwa nikireceive maze,” he lamented.

Bahati, who appeared to be driving alone in the new clip, accused gospel artists and self-proclaimed men of God of plotting his downfall, claiming they were among those fuelling the wave of hate directed at him.

“Unapokea hate from people that you thought understand the Bible. There are people pretending to be men of God, but they attack you out of jealousy. They just wait until people are trolling Bahati to jump in and attack. Yaani kama si love ya God, sijui ningekuwa wapi,” he said bitterly.

The artist said the constant hate and online ridicule have only strengthened his faith, adding that he will never fall because he serves a powerful God.

Bahati further revealed plans to take a break from music to reflect and reconnect with his spirituality, promising to release one final worship song before stepping back from the limelight.

“Kama si God ningekuwa nimeisha kitambo. Wangechukua position yangu. Wasee wengi wametaka ni go down, ni watu wanajifanya men of God. But juu God sio nyanya ya mtu, I’m still on top,” he declared.

“I just want to pause everything and all my plans so that I can sing for God. Of course, I am not going back to gospel, but just one song to praise Him,” he added.

Bahati’s Emotional Apology

His defiant response came just hours after posting a heartfelt public apology, admitting that fame, pressure, and the constant chase for online relevance had led him astray.

“Guys, I have received many calls and messages from friends, fans, pastors and even strangers since I made my musical comeback with Seti. I didn’t want to respond emotionally, so I chose to speak from my heart,” he explained.

“I want to say I am sorry to everyone who felt disappointed, hurt or disrespected by anything I’ve done lately. I know I have crossed lines and made wrong moves, and for that, I take full responsibility,” he said.

Bahati confessed that the struggles of maintaining fame and the fear of becoming irrelevant had driven him to make poor choices.

“Fame can be loud. It can blind you. You start chasing likes, views, and headlines, and somewhere along the way, you lose yourself. I have been there,” he admitted, revealing that behind his public persona, he has battled stress, depression, and self-doubt.

“I have had nights I couldn’t sleep, thinking about how to keep my brand alive. And sometimes, in that struggle, I made choices that hurt me, my family, and my fans,” Bahati stated.

The singer concluded his message with a pledge to focus on peace, purpose, and authenticity, promising to rebuild his career on faith and family values.

“From today, I choose peace over clout and purpose over publicity. I want to go back to making music that uplifts, not divides. I want to inspire again,” he vowed.

Fans Still Not Buying It

Despite his emotional apology, a section of Kenyans has continued to accuse Bahati of using repentance as yet another publicity stunt.

The outrage stems from his recent antics, including wearing his wife Diana Marua’s thong, licking her feet while driving, and even eating food she had already chewed, all of which went viral for the wrong reasons.

Many netizens believe Bahati has become “addicted to controversy,” doing anything to trend online.

Critics also reminded him of his past vow, made during his Groove Award acceptance speech, never to turn away from God, a promise he seems to have broken repeatedly.
