Healing: Pastor Kanyari pens emotional post-humous birthday tribute to late ex-wife Betty Bayo

Controversial man of God Victor Kanyari has shared a belated and emotional post-humous tribute to his late ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo, on what would have been her birthday, barely a week after her burial.

Although coming in late, Kanyari took to social media with a brief but heartfelt message, urging Kenyans to join him in celebrating Bayo’s birthday in her honor.

In the post, sighted by Nairobi News, the pastor apologised for marking the occasion late but pleaded with fans and followers to help him commemorate the life of the late gospel musician.

The cleric, who rose to infamy over the Sh310 scandal, also used the moment to celebrate his son, Danny, who shares a birthday with his late mother.

“Despite being late, help me wish Mama Sky in heaven a happy birthday and my son Danny Victor,” he wrote.

Kanyari’s followers and other Kenyans quickly filled the comment section, sending warm post-humous birthday wishes to the late Betty Bayo as they remembered her legacy.

Not long ago, Kanyari announced he was turning over a new leaf following Bayo’s death.

The pastor revealed he intends to abandon his controversial lifestyle now that he has been left with the full responsibility of raising the two children he shared with the late singer.

Addressing his congregants during a Sunday, November 23 sermon, the pastor vowed to become a responsible, drama-free father, noting that Sky and Danny now depend entirely on him.

According to Kanyari, his children’s welfare has forced him to rethink his life.

“I have so many things ambazo ziko mbele yangu. Sasa nimewachiwa watoto lazima nibehave. Lazima nibehave maana sasa I have children around. Siwezi endelea kucheza vile nilikuwa nikicheza. Lazima niwe serious sana kwa sababu sasa I have two young children, Sky and Danny, ambao sasa I have to take care of them,” he said.

His remarks came amid heated public debate over who, between him and Betty Bayo’s husband, Tash, would be granted custody of the minors following their mother’s sudden demise.

The discussion intensified after Kanyari’s brother made controversial comments during a candle-lighting ceremony, sparking online outrage over what many Kenyans called insensitive timing.
