How to stop seeing someone on TikTok

TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, featuring endless videos personalized for each user. While the app is designed to show content that matches your interests, sometimes you may want to stop seeing videos from a specific person. Whether it’s a creator whose content you don’t like or someone whose videos are irrelevant to you, TikTok provides several ways to manage your feed.

This guide will explain how to stop seeing someone on TikTok effectively, so you can enjoy a more personalized and enjoyable experience.

Why You Might Want to Stop Seeing Someone on TikTok

TikTok’s “For You Page” (FYP) shows videos based on your interactions, watch history, and interests. However, seeing content from a particular user repeatedly can be frustrating if:

  • The videos are irrelevant to your interests
  • You find the content annoying, offensive, or repetitive
  • You want to reduce exposure to certain creators without unfollowing them

By managing who appears on your feed, you can control your TikTok experience and avoid content you don’t enjoy.

Method 1: Use the “Not Interested” Feature

The quickest way to stop seeing videos from someone is to mark their content as Not Interested:

  1. Find a Video from the Creator
Scroll through your FYP and locate a video from the person you want to avoid.
  2. Access Video Options
Press and hold the video or tap the Share (arrow) icon.
  3. Select “Not Interested”
Tap “Not Interested” from the menu. TikTok will show fewer videos like this and from that creator in the future.

Tip: You can also select “Report” if the content violates TikTok’s community guidelines.

Method 2: Block the User

If you want to completely stop seeing content from someone, blocking is the most effective option:

  1. Go to the Creator’s Profile
Tap their username from one of their videos to open their profile.
  2. Tap the Three Dots (More Options) Menu
You’ll find this at the top-right corner of the profile.
  3. Select “Block”
Blocking prevents the user from interacting with you and stops all their videos from appearing in your feed.

This method is permanent until you choose to unblock the user.

Method 3: Mute the Creator

If you don’t want to block someone completely but want to avoid their videos:

  1. Visit the Creator’s Profile
  2. Tap the Three Dots Menu
  3. Select “Mute”

Muting prevents the creator’s videos from showing up in your FYP without alerting them, unlike blocking. This is useful if you want a softer approach.

Method 4: Adjust Your Content Preferences

TikTok’s algorithm relies on your interactions to recommend videos. You can influence it by:

  • Interacting with videos you like – This helps the algorithm show more relevant content.
  • Skipping or marking as “Not Interested” videos from creators you want to avoid.
  • Following creators you enjoy – The algorithm prioritizes content from accounts you follow.

Pro Tip: Avoid watching videos from creators you want to avoid. Even a few seconds of viewing can signal the algorithm to show more of their content.

Method 5: Clear Watch History

Sometimes old interactions keep showing content you don’t want to see:

  1. Go to Your Profile
Tap Profile → Settings & Privacy → Personalization & Data → Clear Watch History
  2. Clear Search History
This prevents past searches from influencing your feed.

Clearing history gives TikTok a “fresh start” to adjust its recommendations based on your current preferences.
