Africa’s creme de la creme rapper Khaligraph Jones has shut down critics who alleged he had been booked for the Luo Festival as a favour.
The rapper, who was among the headliners of the Luo Festival held at the Uhuru Gardens on Saturday, August 9, disclosed he was picked not because he is a good rapper but because he is rich.
Speaking halfway his set at the fun-filled event, Khaligraph slammed people who has earlier claimed he did not deserve the spot, holding that his status got him the gig.
According to Khaligraph Jones, some people had issue with him being included in the list of performers.
He, however, used a few minutes of his set on stage to put things into perspective.

“Unajua, hata kabla tuendelee…ile saa walinibook wakasema Khaligraph Jones you are supposed to come and perform at the Luo Festival, Kuna wasee wengine walikuwa na shida na hio story. Let me tell you something, they did not book Khaligraph Jones because I am a rapper, they called me because I am rich, sawa?” Khali said amidst cheers from fans.
Nairobi News understands Luo Festival went down at the Uhuru Gardens on the night of Saturday, August 9, and saw the attendance of the who is who in the society.
The venue was filled to capacity with over 16,000 revelers checking in for a taste of the culture.
The weekend had a line up of events in Nairobi but clearly, everyone trickled down at the Luo Festival, an event curated and organised by Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o.

Lovers of Luo music were given a treat like no other as the event featured almost all of the biggest Luo Benga musicians such as Prince Inda, Musa Jakadala and Tony Nyadundo among a host of others.
The interwebs was awash with photos and videos from the event with everyone lauding Jalang’o for a well organised event.
