Mediamax employee allegedly tries to off self over delayed salaries


Mediamax Limited has for the longest time been faced with allegations of frustrating its employees by continuously delaying their salaries.

The media company has always refuted the claims through countless official statements issued publicly following such allegations.

Aimless firing of staff under the guise of redundancy has also been something to write home about Mediamax Limited.

The company is currently dealing with yet another scandal, this time over an employee who tried to end his life over salary delays.

Nairobi News has learnt a Mediamax Limited staffer identified as Rufus Mbuthia is currently fighting for his life in hospital following a failed suicide mission.

News of the incident was first made public by social media commentator Francis Gaitho through a tweet sighted by this writer on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

According to Gaitho, Rufus tried to take his own life due to delayed salaries at Mediamax.

Gaitho disclosed Rufus left behind a suicide note in which he blamed and accused Mediamax Limited CEO Ken Ngaruiya of his miseries.

Nairobi News has learnt Rufus was rushed to Avenue Hospital, Nairobi where he is still receiving treatment.

Reports indicate that he was taken to the hospital while in critical condition.

News of Rufus’ attempt on his own life over delayed salaries at Mediamax Limited irked many Kenyans who took to different social media platforms to call out the media entity.

Many wondered why the company keeps hiring new employees yet they do not have the muscle to remunerate them accordingly and timely.
