ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna and ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga on Friday reaffirmed the party’s core values and long-held principles during a meeting with party delegates and members of the ODM Persons with Disabilities (PWD) League in Mombasa.
“We have a history. We know our values. We know our principles. We know what Baba stood for. We are here to reaffirm those values and principles,” the two leaders said, stressing the need for unity and consistency as the party charts its path forward.
Sifuna and Wanga highlighted ODM’s pioneering role as the first political party in Kenya to establish a PWD League nearly a decade ago.
They explained that the initiative was designed to empower people with disabilities, enhance their independence through informed choice, and ensure their full participation in Kenya’s governance structures.
Inclusivity, they noted, remains a central pillar of the party’s vision for social justice.

The leaders expressed pride in the strides made by the PWD League, pointing to increased visibility, more structured engagement, and broader participation of PWDs within party organs and national conversations.
Earlier in the day, during a PWD breakfast meeting, Sifuna and Wanga met with senior party members including Hon. Nickson Kakiri, President of the PWD League, and Hon. Harold Kipchumba, Nominated MP to reflect on ODM’s longstanding commitment to fairness, dignity, and representation.
They called for continued collaboration to strengthen programs supporting PWDs and ensure their voices remain central in policy formulation.
