Former Miss Lang’ata

The new Miss Lang’ata 2025 takes the crown from Ruth Kamande, who made regional headlines a couple of years ago after clinching the crown.

In 2015, Ruth was found guilty of killing her boyfriend, Farid Mohamed Halim, and sentenced to life in prison.

However, Kamande sought to have her case reviewed, claiming that Halim had assaulted her, arguing that it supported her claim of self-defence.

The Supreme Court, however, ruled that the issue had not been raised in either the High Court or the Court of Appeal, making it inadmissible at that stage.

The judges further found no evidence to show Kamande had suffered prolonged abuse and described her relationship with the deceased as typical rather than violent.
