Radio fans excited as Mwende Macharia hints at getting back on Radio Maisha


Former Radio Maisha presenter Mwende Macharia is one of the most talented and loved media personalities in Kenya.

With over a decade of experience on air and having worked for various top radio station, Mwende disappointed a multitude of her fans when she announced her exit from Radio Maisha in August 2024.

In a post seen by this site, Mwende thanked Radio Maisha’s management and her fans for their cooperation during her stint at the Mombasa Road based station.

“I would like to thank Standard Group management for the opportunity to grow my career and brand over the past 14 years. Most importantly, I would like to extend my gratitude to my fans all over the country and beyond for holding down the queen. You guys are the best, and I really do appreciate you. I wish my colleagues at Radio Maisha all the best,” she posted.

 

Mwende ditched the station while it was undergoing restructuring in a move that saw several big time presenters sent packing.

Her absence really affected her fans and listeners judging by their recent reaction after she dropped hints of making a comeback through the same station.

In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, September 6 2025, the mother of one posted an old photo of herself in Radio Maisha’s studio, followed by the caption;

“Listen. #QueenOfTheAirwaves.”

Mwende may not have shared much details about the post or even confirmed if indeed she is back at Radio Maisha, but it sparked excitement among her fans.

A section of her fans thronged the comments section of her post to welcome her back with many holding they had missed her dearly.

Nairobi News cannot authoritatively confirm if indeed Mwende is back on air at Radio Maisha or she just shared a TBT photo to reminisce about her journey.

Before her departure from Radio Maisha, Mwende used to host Konnekt show alongside yet another talented radio host, Clemmo.

Their show was among the most listened to by majority youths in the country.
