Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has arrived in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, ahead of the official launch of his campaign for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position.
Raila landed in the Ethiopian capital on the evening of Wednesday, November 6,2024.
During his stay in Ethiopia, Raila is expected to engage in high-level meetings with diplomats and key stakeholders from across Africa as he intensifies his campaign for the prestigious AUC role.
The Addis Ababa event marks the official continental launch of Raila Odinga’s bid for the AUC chairmanship, following his unveiling as Kenya’s sole candidate for the position by president William Ruto.
The event is set to build on the momentum generated by the formal reception of his candidacy in Nairobi on August 27,2024.
According to a statement from his campaign secretariat, the launch event in Addis Ababa will provide Raila with an important platform to engage with the African Union’s key players, partners and regional formations.
He will use the occasion to present his Pan-African Vision, focusing on key priorities aligned with the AU’s Agenda 2063.
Raila will conclude his activities in Addis Ababa with a keynote address at the Grand Campaign Reception, which will take place at the AU Multipurpose Hall on evening of November 8, 2024.
This event will be a key moment in his campaign as he seek to gain broader support for his candidacy.
