TikToker deletes account after backlash for mocking Raila Odinga Jr

TikTok Kenya is on fire after a content creator stirred outrage by mocking Raila Odinga’s last-born son, Raila Odinga Jr , during a live session.

The TikToker, identified as Tabitha Awino, popularly known online as Awino Nyar Awino, found herself in hot water after making demeaning remarks about Raila Jr’s physical appearance, comments that Kenyans found cruel and insensitive.

In her live video, Awino claimed that Raila Jr looked “different” from his siblings, crudely referring to his “crooked mouth.”

Her words did not sit well with Kenyans, especially as the nation continues to mourn the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Within hours, furious netizens descended on Awino, accusing her of chasing clout through mockery and disrespect.

Many condemned her for targeting a man believed to be battling health complications, calling her behavior “heartless and ignorant.”

Online detectives, famously known as Kenya’s online DCI, reportedly dug up her personal details, including her location and family background, which further fueled the storm.

Facing mounting threats and public pressure, the TikToker was forced to delete her account and go into hiding.

The incident has reignited conversations about cyberbullying, digital ethics, and the dark side of social media fame in Kenya.
