Police in Nairobi have arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen vehicle following a targeted operation in the Makadara area aimed at curbing rising cases of motor vehicle theft.
During the operation carried out yesterday, officers intercepted a Toyota Axio that had been fitted with false number plates.
Upon further inspection, authorities confirmed that the vehicle’s chassis number matched that of a car reported stolen at Mutuya Police Station.
One suspect was apprehended at the scene and placed in custody.

Following interrogation, the suspect provided information that led officers to a second individual connected to the theft.
Both suspects are currently being held and will be processed for arraignment in court.
In a statement, the National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to fighting all forms of crime and urged the public to collaborate with law enforcement by sharing timely and accurate information.
“The successful recovery of the stolen vehicle underscores the effectiveness of targeted operations and the importance of community cooperation in tackling crime,” the statement read.
Investigations into the vehicle theft syndicate are ongoing.
