A university student tragically lost his life after an alleged assault at a hotel in Homa Bay Town on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Paul Sunday, a fourth-year student at Tom Mboya University, was reportedly tortured at the hotel, though the exact cause of the attack remains unclear.
Sunday’s body was discovered with his hands and legs bound by ropes and several injuries, believed to be inflicted on the hotel’s metal counter bars.

He was immediately untied and rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police were notified of the incident and initiated an investigation at the hotel.
Seven employees were taken into custody for questioning regarding the student’s death.

Meanwhile, in Trans Nzoia County, a 60-year-old man, John Juma Lumiti, was found dead after being stabbed during a robbery.
His body was discovered with a stab wound to his lower jaw.
The police are still investigating the motive behind the attack but have not made any arrests yet.
The body has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
