Suspected thieves escape unhurt in shooting while siphoning fuel from parked lorries at construction site in Hindi, Lamu County

Police shot and missed two suspects who tried to siphon fuel from parked lorries at a yard in Hindi, Lamu County.

The suspects managed to escape unhurt in the drama on March 24 night, police said.

The suspects were targeting four specialized road building equipment parked in the area to siphon fuel when the incident happened.

They left behind three jericans, siphoning pipes and a construction helmet as they escaped.

Managers had complained they found fuel missing from the vehicles, which derailed ongoing road construction works.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

And a pistol with 11 bullets was recovered from three suspects in a police operation in Kiamaciri area, Kirinyaga County.

Police said the operation was staged within Ngomongo area of Rukanga sub location with the aim of arresting a notorious gangster who has been terrorising members of the public within Ngong town.

A Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition was recovered in the exercise together with a motorcycle linked to a series of robberies in the area.

The suspects were later moved to Ngong for further processing and possible arraignment.

And four police officers were arrested after a mob tried to attack them in a failed robbery incident in Kitengela Town.

The officers were part of a group that had tricked a Congolese man and tried to steal his diamond made necklace.

The victim said he was tricked and moved from Namanga to Kitengela to sell the chain to a potential buyer.

On reaching Kitengela, he said, he was attacked and handcuffed prompting him to scream, which attracted a mob.

Police said the mob took the said suspects to the local station only to learn they were serving police officers.

They were found to be police officers based in Nairobi and Kitengela. The victim said he lost the necklace which he valued at USD1905, USD3,000 and 300 Euros in the drama.
