The court clarified that judicial officers will also remain available to deal with urgent applications and matters requiring immediate attention.
“A Judge or Judges will be in attendance for the disposal of any urgent business during the recess,” the notice added.
The annual break is provided for under Article 164(1) of the Constitution of Kenya and Rule 20 of the Court of Appeal Rules, 2022.
The announcement was among several notices published in the Kenya Gazette, which also included updates on provisional land title certificates, public finance statements, environmental impact assessment reports, insolvency proceedings, disposal of court records, uncollected goods and changes of names.
The Court of Appeal assured litigants and members of the public that despite the recess, mechanisms remain in place to ensure urgent legal issues are addressed without unnecessary delays.
