Decomposed body of missing Nakuru woman found in quarry

A woman who had been reported missing in Nakuru nearly two weeks ago was found dead in a quarry in Kogoto, Bahati Constituency.

Jackline Wangui Njoroge was last seen alive on the night of Friday, August 14, 2026, along Kanu Street in Nakuru town, according to the family..

Her family reported her disappearance at Bondeni Police Station and circulated digital posters seeking help from members of the public to trace her whereabouts.

The search ended tragically after her body was discovered at the quarry, showing signs of severe physical assault. The remains had begun decomposing and were reportedly found with injuries to the head and missing eyes and ears.

Police detectives launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

They are expected to reconstruct Wangui’s final movements and examine mobile phone records and other available leads to establish who she was in contact with before her disappearance.

Her body was taken to the Annex Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause and manner of death.

Police have appealed to anyone who may have information about Wangui’s movements, particularly anyone with security footage from Kanu Street or the surrounding areas, to report to the nearest police station.

Wangui leaves behind three children.

And a 25-year-old man was found dead in a stream in Komungu Village, Ndhiwa Sub-County, Homa Bay County, after he reportedly left his home without his family’s knowledge.

Police identified the deceased as Dickens Otieno Odhiambo, whose body was discovered floating in water on Thursday evening.

Otieno’s father reported the incident to Kobodo Police Station at around 6:58pm after the family discovered that his son had drowned.

Police officers who visited the scene recovered the body from the stream.

The officers established that Otieno had been undergoing treatment for epilepsy and was on medication.

His father told police that his son had sneaked out of their home at around 6pm on Wednesday and did not return.

The family later began searching for him before his body was discovered in the stream the following evening.

Police removed the body to Manyata Community Nursing Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending autopsy as investigations into the circumstances of the drowning continue.
