President William Ruto has said the next General Election will be a defining moment for Kenya, calling for an end to politics centred on division and marginalisation.
Speaking when he hosted grassroots leaders from the Iteso community at State Lodge in Eldoret, Ruto said the country should embrace a new political approach founded on unity, inclusion and national transformation.
“Next year’s General Election will be decisive and consequential,” President Ruto said.
He stated that his political vision is to move Kenya away from what he described as outdated politics that promote division and fragmentation among communities.
“We will bring to an end the stale politics of division, fragmentation and marginalisation, and usher in a new politics of unity, inclusion and transformation,” he said.
The President added that the country’s development agenda should ensure that all communities and regions benefit equally from national progress.
“It is a politics that leaves no community and no part of Kenya behind,” Ruto said.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng III installed President Ruto as an elder of the Iteso community.
The traditional leader also bestowed upon the President the name Ojokotau, marking the occasion with a cultural honour from the Iteso community.
Ruto thanked the community leaders for the recognition and said national unity and mutual respect among Kenya’s diverse communities remain important in building a peaceful and prosperous country.
The meeting brought together grassroots leaders from the Iteso community, who held discussions with the President on unity, inclusion and the country’s development agenda at State Lodge, Eldoret.
