47-year-old man found dead in Machakos village with head injuries

A 47-year-old man was found dead in Kyambioni Village, Kathiani Sub-County, Machakos County, with an apparent injury to his forehead.

The body of Kioko Kinyiingi was discovered on Monday evening after his brother was informed that he had been found dead.

Police said they found Kinyiingi’s lifeless body lying on the ground.

Preliminary inquiries established that his brother had last seen him at about 4pm while he was loitering at Kathiani Market.

At about 8pm, the brother was informed that Kinyiingi had been found dead at Kyambioni Village.

Police noted an apparent injury on the left side of the deceased’s forehead, from which blood was oozing. Blood was also observed around his nose and mouth.

The scene was photographed and documented by scenes-of-crime officers before the body was removed and taken to Kathiani Level Four Hospital mortuary.

The body was being preserved at the facility pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The deceased’s brother told police that Kinyiingi was allegedly associated with the theft of farm produce, but the report did not indicate whether this had any connection to his death.

And a 41-year-old man died after he was allegedly assaulted by workers at a neighbour’s homestead in Kiambu County following accusations that he had stolen three chickens.

Paul Mariba Mutua was reportedly found at the homestead of his in Muru Road area, Kihara Location, Kiambaa Sub-County, at about 2pm on Monday.

According to police, workers at the homestead apprehended Mutua, tied his hands and legs and allegedly assaulted him.

He was later taken to his house by his brother, Fredrick Waitara, and another man identified as Onesmus Kadima, who police said witnessed the assault.

Mutua was placed on his bed, where he later died from injuries sustained during the alleged assault.

Police said they found Mutua’s body lying on his bed in a supine position, with multiple injuries on different parts of his body.

Crime scene officers processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to SDA Church Mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Police arrested two suspects and a 21-year-old Ugandan national in connection with the death. They were being held pending further investigations.

Detectives are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and determine the individual responsibility of those involved.
