Betrayed abroad: Kenyan woman beaten to death by fellow countrymen in Lebanon


A Kenyan woman, Agnes Chirao, has tragically lost her life after being violently beaten by fellow Kenyans in a shocking incident that occurred in Beirut, Lebanon.

According to reports obtained by Nairobi News, Chirao succumbed to injuries sustained in an alleged assault by her fellow Kenyans.

The tragic news was first shared by Nelson Mike Mithamo Muriuki, who revealed that the ordeal began on Thursday, November 20, when two Kenyan women, including one identified as Zeinab, visited Chirao at her home.

Mithamo reported that the women mercilessly attacked Agnes, leaving her with serious injuries.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but one of the alleged assailants reportedly told Agnes’ sister, Mishi, that the attack was meant to “teach her a lesson.”

Shocking reports indicate that despite the severity of her injuries, Agnes was not taken to hospital immediately.

A circulating unauthenticated video allegedly showed her sitting helplessly on a Beirut street, unable to move, highlighting the gravity of her condition.

Sources close to Chirao revealed that her situation deteriorated rapidly, and by Saturday, November 22, she was finally rushed to medical care.

Doctors observed signs of severe physical abuse, including a serious brain injury and a blood clot, complications worsened by her pre-existing diabetic condition.

Agnes was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but tragically passed away on Sunday, November 23.

The incident has sparked outrage online, particularly among Kenyans in the Gulf, with many condemning the attack as a betrayal of community trust.

Social media users expressed shock and disappointment, emphasising that no Kenyan should harm a compatriot abroad.

The tragic death of Agnes Chirao serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unresolved disputes and violent confrontations, even among members of the same community living overseas.
