President William Ruto on Sunday, August 3 2025, joined thousands of Kenyans at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani to cheer on Harambee Stars as they took on Democratic Republic of Congo.
The match experienced a mammoth of audience as countless Kenyans thronged the stadium to rally behind their team.
Scenes from the stadium were spectacular with celebrities and government officials showing up to show support the Harambee Stars.

The match ended with Harambee Stars beating DRC one goal against zero.
To extend his support, Ruto joined Harambee Stars players in the changing room minutes after the game just but to laud them for the win.
In photos sighted by Nairobi News, Ruto was seen hugging, shaking and laughing with Harambee Stars players as they celebrated the win.
The photos went viral on social media with many Kenyans heaping praises on the President for showing up for the Harambee Stars when they needed him the most.
Many even forgot they had been bashing him on social media and lauded him for showing up, at least for once.

This comes about 48 hours after the President promised to award Harambee Stars Sh 600 million should they clinch the CHAN cup.
As earlier reported by this site, Ruto disclosed the move was aimed at boosting their morale during the CHAN matches.
This, the Head of State declared on Saturday, August 1 2025, during a meeting with the team at Pullman Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi, just a day before the Harambee Stars match against DRC.

Under the new incentive structure, the President will award each player with Sh 1 million for ever match won and Sh 500,000 for every draw.
The module will also see the team earn Sh 60 million if they reach the quarterfinals, Sh 70 million for reaching the semifinals and a whopping Sh 600 million if they take the trophy.
