Entrepreneur Joseph Kairo Wambui, also known as Khalif Kairo, has responded to rumors of bankruptcy surrounding his company, Kairo and Karo, which specializes in car sales and imports.
The speculation began after images circulated on social media showing his car yard almost empty.
In a video posted on Wednesday, Kairo firmly denied the bankruptcy claims, labeling them as part of a smear campaign intended to damage his reputation.
“Our company has faced some challenges over the past few months, like many other businesses in Kenya.
However, as a young company, we have been subjected to some of the worst smear campaigns,” Kairo explained.
He assured his customers and business partners that Kairo and Karo is not shutting down.
“Kairo is not going anywhere. I am not closing my company. I have not gone bankrupt; we are still in business,” he stated.
Addressing the empty car yard shown in social media photos since December 23, Kairo clarified that the yard is undergoing renovations and that all showrooms will reopen on January 7, 2025.
“We took a break around December 23 and plan to resume operations on January 7.
During this time, we’re making improvements to our structures, especially on Kiambu Road, to enhance the overall appearance of the yard.
This is why you haven’t seen cars there,” he explained.
While acknowledging the business challenges he has faced, Kairo assured his followers that things would improve in 2025.
“These issues are part of the normal business cycle. Every entrepreneur goes through tough phases, including legal hurdles.
With time, these challenges will be overcome,” he said.
The 28-year-old entrepreneur emphasized that he would not be deterred by online attacks or reports about financial troubles at Kairo and Karo.
He also addressed claims that his company had failed to deliver cars to customers after they had paid, which led to rumors that he had been arrested.
Kairo denied these allegations, asserting that he has never scammed any of his customers.
