Police in Embu are investigating a daring daytime robbery in Kamketha area, where a gang posing as delivery agents stormed a home and made away with cash and valuables.
The incident, reported on March 31, 2026, occurred at around 11:15am when five men arrived at the residence of businessman Miral Dhodhia in a black Toyota Prado TX. The suspects allegedly told the security guard at the gate that they had a parcel from Nairobi Plastics to deliver.
According to police, the guard allowed one of the men into the compound and escorted him to the house, where he was received by Dhodhia’s 68-year-old mother.
She reportedly advised the visitor to deliver the parcel to Embu town, where her son operates a wholesale business under the name Namo Stores.
As the guard escorted the man back to the gate, the situation quickly turned violent. The suspect grabbed the guard by the throat and signaled his accomplices, who were waiting in the vehicle, to force their way into the compound.
Armed with machetes and knives, the gang stormed the house and ordered all occupants to lie down.
They proceeded to ransack the home, stealing Sh450,000 in cash from the complainant’s bedroom, two gold necklace chains, and four hand bangles, which they forcibly removed from the victims.
The attackers also sprayed a choking substance inside the house before fleeing through the main gate in the waiting vehicle.
During the ordeal, the complainant’s elderly mother sustained minor bruises on her legs and neck.
Police officers visited the scene and launched investigations into the incident. Authorities are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Such incidents happen when suspects have prior information and police are investigating possible collusion.
