A Jambojet aircraft sustained damage after it rolled and struck flagpoles near the VIP State Pavilion at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
Officials suspect the plane had been parked overnight on Monday without chocks or brakes engaged.
In a statement, Jambojet confirmed the incident, stating, “While parked, the aircraft rolled off the ramp and came into contact with a pole, resulting in some damage to its nose.”
No injuries were reported among the airline’s staff.
The company assured the public that they are working with authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences.
As a precaution, the damaged aircraft has been withdrawn from service pending clearance. Jambojet also warned of potential flight disruptions due to the incident.
“We anticipate some flight disruptions and will communicate directly with affected passengers. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and reaffirm our commitment to the safety of our staff and customers,” the airline said.
