Kanyari dumps controversial Marion Naipei with cryptic social media post: “Paka ya msituni ni ya msituni”

Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari appears to have reached his limit in his recent highly publicised effort to “rescue” viral figure Marion Naipei, if a cryptic social media post is anything to go by.

Kanyari, who had previously taken Naipei under his wing following a wave of online ridicule surrounding her, shared a short but loaded message on Thursday, January 5, that many interpreted as him washing his hands of the situation.

The pastor did not mention any names, but online observers were quick to connect the dots.

Kanyari Gives Up on Marion Naipei

In a brief Facebook post sighted by Nairobi News, the man of God appeared to suggest that despite his efforts to guide and mentor someone he had recently supported, his attempts had hit a dead end.

Naipei recently made regional headlines after videos surfaced online showing her in an embarrassing exchange with a US-based Kenyan doctor identified as Opande, sparking widespread debate on social media.

Through his post, Kanyari seemed to imply that some people cannot be reformed, no matter the effort invested in them.

Using animal metaphors, he likened the situation to trying to tame a wild creature, saying in essence that certain natures cannot be changed.

“Paka ya msituni ni ya msituni. Rudi msituni nimechoka,” he wrote, a Swahili phrase loosely translating to: “A wild cat belongs to the wild. Go back to the wild, I am tired.”

In other interpretations shared by netizens, Kanyari’s message was also compared to the idea that a crow raised among people will still return to its wild ways.

Many concluded that the pastor felt exhausted from trying to “nurture” someone he now views as unwilling or unable to change.

Although he avoided naming anyone directly, countless social media users were convinced the message was aimed at Marion Naipei, whom he had recently defended from online ridicule and kept close in what he described at the time as a mentorship and spiritual guidance effort.

The post quickly drew reactions from a throng of Kenyans, including former Nairobi County Environment CEC Geoffrey Mosiria, who publicly wondered what could have gone wrong.

“Kwani imerudi msituni tena!” Mosiria commented, echoing the metaphor used in Kanyari’s post.

Other Kenyans flooded the comment section with mixed reactions, some encouraging the preacher, others mocking him, while many reminded him that they had previously warned him about getting too closely involved with Naipei in the first place.

Kanyari’s post comes barely a fortnight after Kenyans questioned his closeness to Marion.

Just Marry Her

Kenyans on social media were left talking after the controversial televangelist pastor appeared to have struck a close bond with Marion Naipei, prompting a section of netizens to cheekily urge him to “just marry her.”

Marion Naipei became the centre of heated online debates after disturbing videos showing her private parts surfaced on social media.

The clips were reportedly leaked by a man identified as James Opande, believed to be her boyfriend at the time, who allegedly exposed her nakedness while they were at a local watering hole.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many Kenyans condemning the act and terming it a gross violation of Marion’s privacy and dignity.

Pastor Victor Kanyari was among the public figures who openly showed support for Marion Naipei during the difficult period.

The Salvation Healing Ministry leader went a step further by inviting the viral lady to his church for prayers and fellowship, a move that attracted mixed reactions online.

In a gesture that caught the attention of many, Kanyari also gifted Marion KSh50,000, describing it as a token to help wipe away her tears after the embarrassing ordeal.

Photos and videos which circulated online showed the pastor holding Marion’s hand as he comforted her, further fuelling discussion across social media platforms.

Kanyari did not stop there.

On Sunday, January 25, the preacher once again hosted Marion at his church and later shared photos of the two together on his social media pages.
