The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will continue as scheduled, despite Friday, November 1, being designated a public holiday.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos stated in a notice released on Thursday that the recent announcement of Friday as a national holiday, in honor of Prof. Kithure Kindiki’s swearing-in as Deputy President, will not disrupt the timetable for Form Four candidates taking their KCSE exams.
Ogamba has instructed all parties involved in the administration of the KCSE examinations to fulfill their responsibilities as normal to guarantee a smooth process.
“The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public that the declaration of the holiday will not interrupt the ongoing KCSE Examination papers scheduled for Friday, 1st November 2024.
“Consequently, all members of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Team are instructed to report to work as scheduled to ensure that all examination activities of the day are well executed in line with Ministry of Education guidelines,” said Ogamba.
CS Ogamba additionally stated that the directive would extend to all other basic education institutions currently in session.
Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi officially announced Friday, November 1, 2024, as a public holiday to facilitate the swearing-in of Deputy President-designate Prof. Kindiki.
This decision follows the High Court’s annulment of an earlier ruling that had prevented Kindiki’s swearing-in due to the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.
This development concludes a series of dramatic weeks characterized by significant political tension.
