The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a countrywide public auction of obsolete, surplus, and unserviceable items, set to take place over the coming weeks.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, April 22, KeNHA invited interested members of the public to participate in the auctions, which will be held at various regional offices, weighbridges, and centers across the country.
Bidders will have 24 days to visit these locations and place their bids.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) hereby invites interested bidders for the Sale of Obsolete, Surplus and Unserviceable Items,” the notice read.

Bidding Guidelines
KeNHA has outlined six key requirements for participation:
- Bidders must pay a refundable deposit: sh 50,000 for scrap metal and sh 5,000 for other items. This payment must be made in cash at the auction center’s cash office by 10:00 AM on the auction day.
- Unsuccessful bidders will receive a full refund of their deposits.
- Winning bidders are required to immediately pay 25% of the purchase price, either in cash or via a bank deposit to KeNHA’s designated account. The remaining balance must be cleared within 14 days.
- Viewing of auction items will take place from April 22 to May 16, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays.
- The auctions will be conducted by Trenad Auctioneers.
- Items will be sold on an “as-is-where-is” basis and subject to reserve prices.
KeNHA also noted that provisions have been made to include youth, women, and persons with disabilities in the auction process.
Auction Schedule and Locations
The public auctions will be held at the following locations and dates:
- May 7 & 8 (11:00 AM): KeNHA Head Office, Athi River, Isinya, and Juja Weighbridge
- May 9, 12 & 13: Regional offices in Nairobi, Lower Eastern, Western, Central, Upper Eastern, and North Eastern
- May 12, 13, 15 & 16: Weighbridges in Webuye, Busia, Rongo, Mtwapa, Dongo-Kundu, Mariakani, and Suswa
- May 8, 15 & 16: North Rift and South Rift offices, Corridor B (Gilgil), and Corridor C (Juja)
