Chepkemei and Korir tied the knot on Friday, August 21, 2026, in a ceremony that captured attention because of the senior public figure’s prominent role in Kenya’s tourism sector.

According to details shared from the ceremony, the couple exchanged their vows in an open setting surrounded by their loved ones.

Chepkemei looked elegant in a white wedding gown while Korir donned a grey suit as they began their journey as husband and wife.

He also offered a prayer for the couple as they embarked on their new chapter.

“Congratulations, June and Naftal. May God bless your union and your journey together,” Koskei added.

A Private Moment Turns Into a High-Profile Celebration

The Naivasha ceremony brought together relatives, close friends and notable personalities, giving the wedding a distinctly high-profile feel while maintaining the warmth of a family celebration.

The wedding comes at a notable moment in Chepkemei’s career, having served as the face of Kenya’s tourism marketing efforts since taking over leadership of KTB.

Who Is June Chepkemei?

Chepkemei was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Tourism Board in March 2024, succeeding John Chirchir, who had been serving in an acting capacity.

Her appointment was confirmed through a Gazette Notice dated March 19, 2024.

Before joining KTB, she served as Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority.

She had also worked at Konza Technopolis Development Authority and Safaricom, building experience in marketing, communications, investment and brand management.

The Kenya Tourism Board describes her as a leader focused on innovation, collaboration and positioning Kenya as a leading global tourism destination.

She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Moi University, a postgraduate diploma in professional marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK and is pursuing a PhD in Information Science.

Her professional achievements have also earned her recognition beyond Kenya.

In 2025, she was named among Africa’s 50 Most Influential CEOs by Africapitol Ventures, an honour that recognised her leadership and contribution to Kenya’s tourism industry.

Chepkemei’s Impact on Kenya’s Tourism Agenda

Since taking charge at KTB, Chepkemei has been associated with efforts to diversify Kenya’s tourism offering beyond the traditional safari and beach experiences.

One of the initiatives launched under her leadership is the “Ziara Kenya: One Diaspora, One Tourist” campaign, which seeks to encourage Kenyans living abroad to act as ambassadors for the country by inviting at least one tourist to visit Kenya.

She has also championed adventure tourism, with KTB supporting the creation of the Kenya Adventure Tourism Product Club.

The initiative seeks to market activities such as hiking, biking and other experiences while opening up lesser-known destinations across the country.

KTB has additionally been working with tour operators and other industry players to market destinations across all 47 counties and shine a spotlight on attractions outside Kenya’s traditional tourism circuits.

Kenya’s Tourism Sector Records Strong Growth

Chepkemei’s wedding comes as Kenya’s tourism industry continues to record significant growth.

Official tourism performance figures released in 2025 showed that Kenya recorded about 2.4 million international tourist arrivals in 2024, representing a substantial increase from the previous year.

Tourism earnings also rose from approximately KSh377.5 billion in 2023 to KSh452.2 billion in 2024.

The growth has been attributed to increased marketing, product diversification, improved connectivity and efforts to expand Kenya’s tourism appeal to different categories of travellers.

KTB has increasingly promoted experiences involving adventure, culture, sports, gastronomy and other niche products as part of efforts to ensure tourists explore more parts of the country.

Naivasha Provides Fitting Backdrop for the Celebration

The choice of Naivasha for the wedding also offered a scenic setting for the couple’s big day.

The town is one of Kenya’s well-known tourism and hospitality destinations and has become a popular location for conferences, leisure activities, outdoor events and private celebrations.

Interestingly, Chepkemei has previously participated in tourism activities in Naivasha.

In 2024, she spoke about Kenya’s ambition to grow adventure tourism and attract visitors interested in exploring the country’s diverse landscapes and terrains.

Her wedding in the destination therefore provided a fitting backdrop for a woman whose professional career has largely revolved around promoting Kenya as a place to visit and explore.

A New Chapter for the KTB Boss

While Chepkemei has spent much of her public career in the spotlight because of her leadership position, the Naivasha ceremony offered a more personal glimpse into her life away from the boardroom.

Surrounded by family, friends and well-wishers, she and Korir celebrated a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

The congratulatory messages from guests centred on love, faith, companionship and the hope that the couple would build a happy home together.

As photographs from the colourful ceremony continue to circulate, the wedding has quickly become one of the notable high-profile social events of the day, bringing together Chepkemei’s professional prominence and an intimate celebration of her personal life.

For Chepkemei, the occasion marked more than a beautiful ceremony in Naivasha. It was the beginning of a new journey alongside Korir, one that her friends and family hope will be defined by love, mutual respect, happiness and lasting companionship.
