Kenyans mercilessly attack Jaymo Ule Msee for trashing Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Kakamega Tour

Comedian-turned-Islam activist Jaymo Ule Msee is having a rough night after being attacked mercilessly by Kenyans on social media over his remarks about the just concluded Linda Mwananchi Tour led by Edwin Sifuna in the Western Kenya region.

What began as a cheeky post on Facebook quickly snowballed into a full-blown online pile-on, with netizens accusing him of disrespecting both the region and the leaders spearheading the rallies.

Charged Up Linda Mwananchi Kakamega Tour

On Saturday, February 21, Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino and James Orengo brought Kakamega, Vihiga and their environs to a standstill with the second Linda Mwananchi rally.

The tour, which is part of a broader push by opposition leaders to reconnect with wananchi at the grassroots, drew massive crowds across Western Kenya, a region known for its vibrant political participation and historically high turnout at political events.

The overwhelming reception seemingly did not settle well with individuals allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, among them Jaymo Ule Msee.

Moments after the Kakamega rally, Jaymo took to social media and threw shade at the Linda Mwananchi rally and the leaders spearheading it.

In a caption sighted by Nairobi News on Jaymo Ule Msee’s official Facebook page, the comic claimed the Linda Mwananchi rally was just noise that could not change anything in the Kenyan socio-political sphere.

The caption read:

“Nothing much to write about Kakamega …Just the usual noise and many Simon Makonde stories …Its like the revolution was not televised 😂.”

That post rubbed a multitude of Kenyans the wrong way and they duly hit his page with a merciless scathing attack.

Countless netizens blasted him for commenting about the Linda Mwananchi Tour rallies, with quite a number insisting he does not have the moral authority to talk about the tour and the politicians associated with it.

“Pressure Ina dawa… Just visit your nearest pharmacy.”

“We cannot take anything seriously from you we know you as a comedian 😉.”

Jared Oloo posted:

“Nothing to write and you are already written about kakamega🤣🤣.”

“Thought you were supposed to be fasting.”

Beyond the clapbacks and memes, the backlash also reopened old conversations about Jaymo’s political credibility.

The social media personality had earlier announced his interest to vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat under UDA, positioning himself as a fresh face ready to “shake up” city politics.

However, he later cancelled and shelved his ambition.

In a surprising personal turn, Jaymo announced his conversion to Islam and has since been busy promoting the religion online, frequently sharing faith-based content, reflections on discipline, and moral reform.

The Linda Mwananchi Tour itself has been framed by opposition leaders as a people-centred outreach programme aimed at highlighting the cost of living, unemployment, governance concerns and what they term shrinking civic space.

The rallies in Western Kenya tapped into long-standing frustrations around the economy, high taxation, and service delivery, themes that have dominated national discourse in recent months.

Political analysts note that Western Kenya has become a critical battleground for political influence, with leaders courting the region ahead of future electoral contests.

For Jaymo, the episode underscores how quickly public sentiment can turn into Kenya’s hyper-charged online political arena.

Political commentary on social media often attracts instant pushback, especially when it appears to dismiss popular public sentiment or belittle massive turnouts.

Whether the former comedian will respond to the backlash or let the storm pass remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: trashing a rally that electrified Western Kenya was always going to be a hot take, and Kenyans were not in the mood to let it slide.
