Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has departed Nairobi for Antigua and Barbuda, where he will represent President William Ruto at the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The summit, scheduled to run from November 1 to 4 in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, brings together leaders from the Commonwealth’s 56 member states, representing a combined population of approximately 2.7 billion people across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.
Kindiki said Kenya would use the high-level diplomatic engagement to advance its national interests, strengthen international partnerships and position itself as a stable and attractive investment destination.
“Kenya will use this forum to advance its strategic national interests and to project the country as a stable investment destination,” Kindiki said.
He noted that the meeting would provide an opportunity for Kenya to strengthen its engagement with other Commonwealth member states and seek greater support for its development priorities.
The Deputy President said Kenya would also use the platform to advance its position on the need for collective action in addressing global challenges.
Through plenary sessions, bilateral engagements and side events, Kenya hopes to open up more opportunities for local businesses, attract foreign investment and accelerate the country’s economic transformation.
Kindiki added that Kenya would showcase its investment potential and democratic stability while seeking partnerships with countries and institutions capable of providing capital, technology and expertise.
The engagements are expected to strengthen Kenya’s international economic relations and connect its development agenda with strategic partners ahead of the next phase of national economic transformation.
