An M-PESA agent was followed and subsequently robbed of Ksh 200,000 in Suneka town, Kisii County.
The victim reported that while returning to her home on the night of October 29, she was assaulted and her handbag, which contained the money and an M-PESA machine, was taken.
At the time of the incident, she was traveling on a bodaboda.
According to police reports, two men emerged from the shadows wielding crude weapons and struck her on the back of the head, causing the motorcycle to skid and fall.
The assailants then seized the bag and fled, leaving both the woman and her rider injured from the fall.
Additionally, the woman sustained a head injury from a blunt object during the altercation.
She was promptly taken to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Authorities have indicated that they believe the assailants possessed prior knowledge regarding the cash.
In a related development, law enforcement in Juja, Kiambu County, is conducting an investigation following the discovery of a homemade firearm in a thicket located in the Mung’etho area.
Local residents uncovered the weapon, which is capable of discharging rounds in an open field.
The homemade pistol has since been retrieved by the police and is currently secured at the station, pending a ballistic analysis.
In a separate incident, a 24-year-old herdsman was found deceased, suspected to have taken his own life in Namelok village, Narok County.
Police officers responded to the scene and discovered the body of the individual hanging from a tree, secured with a skin belt.
The motive behind this tragic event remains unclear, as no suicide note was located, according to police reports.
The body has been transported to the mortuary at Narok Referral Hospital, where it awaits an autopsy.
