Man dies after assault in Ugenya, Siaya County


Police are investigating murder in an incident where a 53-year-old man died after he had been clobbered by unknown people in Aboke area, Ugenya, Siaya County.

The victim was identified as Samuel Ouma. He was found lying on the roadside unconscious in Kanyaudo village, taken to the hospital where he was attended to and brought back to his house where he succumbed, police said of the Wednesday incident.

The motive of the fatal attack and those behind the same were not known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy and investigations.

The body had bruises on the right ribs, police said.

In Kwanza, Trans Nzoia County, the body of one Nicholas Mwangi, 50 was found abandoned at a construction site after a suspected murder.

Police said the body had blood oozing from the mouth when it was found on Wednesday.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and probe.

And a 22-year-old man drowned in River Kerio in Rocho area, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Police said Collins Kiplangat was crossing the swollen river from Koloa area to Chosongoch when he was swept away.

The search for the body continued Thursday, police said adding it was swept downstream.

Officials have warned that most rivers are swollen due to heavy rains being experienced and want the public to be cautious all the time when near the scenes.

Elsewhere in Suna West, Migori County, police said they are investigating an incident where a human skull was recovered in a village.

The skull was moved to the mortuary pending a possible identification and autopsy.

Police said they are investigating how the victim died.

There is a likelihood the individual was killed elsewhere and the body part dumped at the site in Mariba C village, police said.
