Man murdered, body dumped in river in Mukothima, Tharaka Nithi County


Detectives are investigating an incident where a man was found murdered and his body dumped in a river in Mukothima, Tharaka Nithi County.

Police said the body of the man was found floating on river Thanantu with visible blood stains on the stones at the banks of the river.

It was established that the skull was raptured by what is believed to be a heavy blow using a blunt object.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy following the February 16 incident.

In Kisumu Town, a night guard was found murdered after an attack,

Police said James Ombusuro, 60 was hacked to death as he headed to his home after the night’s duties.

His body was found along Lodwar Road in a pool of blood. Police said a second man was found injured a few meters from the scene.

The motive of the attack was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.

In Obunga, Kisumu County, a suspect was stoned to death over claims of snatching a mobile phone from pedestrians. The body was moved to the mortuary, police said, adding he was yet to be identified.

In Mamboleo, Kisumu County, one Griffins Okumu, 20 and who was a student at Riat College was stoned to death over claims he had stolen a mobile phone. Police said they are investigating the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy as police hunt for the mob that fatally assaulted him.

In Kopsiro, Bungoma County, a 13-year-old girl who was a pupil at Kiptungururwo Primary School died after being punished by her father.

The father was arrested for grilling following the incident on February 14, police said.

The father told police he was disciplining his daughter after she missed school for a number of occasions over unknown reasons when she was fatally injured.

The girl sustained head injuries and was rushed to the hospital hours later where she succumbed.

The police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
