President William Ruto has announced significant changes within the senior ranks of the Executive, involving new appointments, reassignments, and nominations across the Cabinet, foreign service, and state corporations.
In a statement issued by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, it was revealed that the President has nominated Mutahi Kagwe as Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
Lee Kinyanjui has been nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, while William Kabogo is set to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy.
The diplomatic service has also seen key nominations, including Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u as High Commissioner to Ghana and Ababu Namwamba as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON). Dorothy Angote has been nominated as High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, while Andrew Karanja is set to become Ambassador to Brazil.
In a reshuffle of Cabinet roles, Salim Mvurya has been reassigned to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, while Kipchumba Murkomen has been moved to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
The President has also made strategic appointments to state corporations. Ndiritu Muriithi has been named Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority, Anthony Mwaura will lead the Kenya Rural Roads Authority, and Kembi Gitura has been appointed Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital.
All nominations and appointments have been forwarded to the National Assembly for review and approval, as mandated by the Constitution.
