Neighbour shoots to the air to scare attacking thugs in Gigiri, Nairobi


A licensed firearm holder came to the rescue of a private guard who was under attack at a home in Gigiri area, Nairobi.

This was after he shot to the air to scare the gang that had raided his neighbour’s house with an intention of stealing.

According to police, the incident happened as it rained on Friday night along Limuru Road.

Six suspects had scaled a perimeter wall around the compound and attacked a guard on duty.

The guard raised an alarm alerting his neighbours who responded.

It was then that the armed neighbour reached out to his Sag-Seur pistol and shot to the air twice prompting the gang to escape.

Police visited the scene and recovered a wooden ladder and manilla ropes that the gang used in scaling the wall.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.

Meanwhile, police in Naivasha are investigating the vandalism on Viwandani police patrol base, which was burnt down during the Gen Z demonstrations.

Police said unknown people raided the remaining structures and stole doors, windows, fence, gate and parts of unihuts.

A team of detectives is investigating the incident, police said.

In Mombasa, police said they are investigating the vandalism of security cameras on the SGR.

Officials said some security cameras on bridge 18 were not functioning and it was later established some young men had been throwing stones at them and hence damaged the.

At least four cameras were damaged in the attack.

Police said a hunt on the gang behind the incident is ongoing.
